Лещен (Leshten) is a little village in the Rhodopes not far from Gotse Delchev. Home to thirty or so houses built in a style typical of the region and for old Bulgarian villages, the place is justifiably popular with history buffs, those keen on architecture, and escapists. As someone who at times falls into each of those categories, I found Leshten to be a rather enjoyable place to wander around for a few hours. The fact that parts of Leshten bear a strong resemblance to Bedrock of The Flintstones' fame didn’t hurt either.
